The Persian is one of the oldest known breed of cat. The early history is not entirely known but the following story is the most common to describe the origin:
'The year was 1620 and the Italian, Pietro della Valle, had lived in and written about Middle East countries. Now it was time for him and his wife to return home, which meant finding presents. Jewels, spices, silks- these traveled well. He sturck a deal for four pairs of these remarkable longhaired cats, writing in his journals about the find. These were the blue Persians that would, two centuries later, rule the show halls of the cat fancy.'
The most common characteristics are:
Persian cats have sweet and gentle temperament. They are quiet and get along with family members and other pets.
Although they love their owners, they can be left alone during the working hours. Cats are very clever animals and they can learn fast. They have a highly advanced 'internal clock', they know when you come home from work or when it is time to go to sleep at night. Cats create a rhythm of life together with the family.
